We have two main divisions: cash handling equipment and AI-powered biometric solutions.
Established as a leading provider of cash handling equipment we enable customers to automate cash payments throughout the world; manufacturing multi-coin hoppers, banknote validators and recyclers that handle millions of transactions every day for some of the world’s leading companies.
This desire to continually innovate has led to the development of our AI powered biometric solutions division. Using facial analysis to intelligently identify people more efficiently and securely, our solutions allow customers to easily add age estimation and facial recognition functionality to their existing equipment or premises.

As an innovation-led global technology company, we research and develop a broad range of products that reduce operational costs and maximise efficiency for the retail, gaming, kiosk, vending, amusement markets. We have a growing international presence with commercial operations across the globe, two manufacturing sites, a rapidly expanding R&D centre and a network of over 20 trading partners.
In 1994 the company launched its first product, the NV1, and the iconic Smiley bezel was born. With the early success of affordable banknote validators, we then expanded into Europe.
We introduced SPF™ technology in 2004 which gives an industry-leading acceptance rate for multi-currency banknotes of typically 99%+. We have also created SSP – Smiley Secure Protocol which is unique to Innovative Technology. This serial interface maximises security and is available in an encrypted version as well (eSSP) for secure communication.
Over the past three decades we have expanded our product range significantly including the NV200 and NV9 and we continued to launch new products in the SMART range such as the SMART Ticket, Smart Hopper and SMART Coin System, plus developed our first compact note recycler (NV11) which was introduced in 2010.
Another technology milestone in our history was the development of our unique Spectral Technology which includes full spectral imaging to validate the authenticity of notes, offering exceptional protection against fraudulent and stained notes through best in class performance. The first product in the Spectral range the NV200S was introduced in 2017 followed by the NV9 Spectral. Our modular approach to the design and provision of cash handling technology is very important to us, as we enable our customers to easily customise their current products and add on additional functionality such as single (NV11 Spectral) and multi-denomination recycling (NV22 Spectral)

The latest multi-bill recycler in the Spectral range is the NV4000, introduced in 2022. This bill recycler is ideal to increase customer throughput where the processing and recycling of cash at fast speeds is fundamental, such as retail applications.
